Just before noon on Wed., 27 Aug, a sinkhole opened up in York Gulch Rd. to an airhole leading to a mine shaft about 300 feet below surface. Kudos to Roads & Bridges for constructing a detour in record time. The following pictures were taken less than two hours after the event, while the detour was being constructed. Watch out, Tim; it's a long way down
(And you'll have to crawl out to Fall River Rd.) That's an airhole that is said to go down c. 300 feet
