New Arrivals in York Gulch

Jim & Stephanie Vogt (posted: summer 2001)

Good Morning York Gulchers (or is it Gulchies?!),

Anyway...Hi! I am Jim Vogt and my wife is Stephanie. We are soon to be a part of your wonderful enclave! (Actually, we should be part of it now, but, BOY!, construction issues are nothing like I would have imagined.)

We are in the final stages of finishing our log home off of Alpine Way, near the top of Old Stage. We share the road with John Andrews and his girlfriend Julie (nice lady), the brave souls who built the "Earth Home" above all of you.

We should be moving in by April at the latest. I have had a lot of help by locals already and I am grateful. Scott Schaffer, Otto Van Geet, John Andrews, and Don Waggoner. I appreciate it very much and thank all of you.

I just thought I would steal the home/land owners association mailing list and introduce ourselves.

Steph and I have been married for almost eight years. We are coming over from Evergreen.

Steph is currently an NICU nurse (premature babies) at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center. She recently severely demoted herself. She was Director of Nursing for the hospital, but greatly missed being involved in patient care. She loves not being a boss anymore!

I recently left the Summit County Sheriff's Office (when we bought our land) and took a job as a police officer for the Idaho Springs Police Department. The people there are wonderful. I am a state certified Emergency Medical Technician - IV, and internationally certified as a drug recognition expert (DRE). I have been part of the State Mine Rescue team and the Gilpin County Mine rescue team. Also, I am experienced as a team leader / trainer for the Gilpin County Search & Rescue Team.

Steph and I do not, as yet, have any kids. We do have two dogs, unfortunately, one of which was stolen out of the fenced yard we are temporarily staying at. $%&@* Flatlanders!!!! We will adopt another one, though.

We have met many of you and have been at the summer meeetings. We sincerely look forward to meeting each and every one of you. If we can be of any assistance please feel free to call us (720)-350-0294 or your can call me at the Police Department 567-4921. Or email at Tigger6969@aol.com.

Take care, all of you, and we will meet in due time. :)

Jim and Steph Vogt
